Description
This artwork explores the intricate connections between our fundamental essence and the universe's vast mysteries. Drawing parallels between the theory of relativity, the quest for the elusive top quark in quantum physics, and the enigmatic spin of pulsars in outer space, it underscores the profound bond between culture and science—a connection often overlooked in our daily lives.
The concept of corridors is reimagined in this context. Commonly found in institutions like prisons or boarding schools, corridors serve as public spaces designed for efficient surveillance. Here, they symbolize vast expanses stretching from horizon to horizon, evoking feelings of being at the precipice of oblivion or on the cusp of a monumental transformation.
The neon glass tubes have been skillfully blown into shapes resembling intestines, transforming these corridors into representations of the human intestine—a vital passage for digestion. These internal corridors not only screen and process food but also absorb nutrients and discard waste. Furthermore, the gut's microbiome is highlighted for its role in influencing our mood, linking our biological processes with emotional states and underscoring the unseen forces that shape our existence.
Meticulously crafted to mimic the form of intestines, these pieces are illuminated with electrons, gases, and mercury. The result is a series of transparent or translucent channels that visually depict the process of selection and elimination. This visualization bridges the gap between the abstract concepts of astrophysics and quantum mechanics and the tangible, physical reality of our everyday existence, inviting viewers to contemplate the often-neglected forces that shape our lives and environment.
